Junior High / Middle School

Junior High Rocks at Cross of Life!
Junior High student activities include Sunday School, Confirmation Classes, Summer Camp at Lutherdale Bible Camp, our celebrated East Coast Road Trip, and many other fun fellowship and servanthood events.

Confirmation Classes
Detailed information on Confirmation Class expectations can be found under the "Confirmation" section of this website. Confirmation Classes are held on Wednesdays (September-May), generally from 6:15-7:45 p.m. Students are confirmed in September (typically as 9th graders).

East Coast Road Trip (ECRT)
The ECRT is a highlight for our eighth-graders' passage through Confirmation! It takes our youth along the East Coast ... of Wisconsin, that is! Our kids and adult chaperones explore tent-camping in state parks, biking through Peninsula State Park, and spelunking, among other activities.
We encourage our students and their parents to join us for this once-in-a-lifetime experience - one they'll always remember.

The 2015 ECRT took place Tuesday, July 28-Friday, July 31. For more info, visit our ECRT page by clicking here!

Confirmation Camp at LutherdaleAn Annual Favorite!
After spending the school year together on Wednesday nights it’s great to spend a week of fun together at Lutherdale Bible Camp. COL's week is an official Confirmation Camp week. That means there will be confirmation kids from other churches at camp, too! The week is filled with all the great Lutherdale things – high ropes, swimming, canoeing, GaGa Ball and awesome counselors. We believe going to camp is so valuable that Cross of Life gives each Year One student a $75 scholarship. When summer draws near, you will be able to sign up at Lutherdale website (www.lutherdale.org). Our week at camp always fills up fast!

FAMILY NOTE: This week at camp includes programs for Grades 1-8 as well as the Confirmation program. All your kids can attend the same week. Details are always shared at the Winter Orientation Meeting in January.

Send word with questions or concerns to Jo Ann Tomm, John Horner-Ibler or Sherrie Lorbeck.

Fellowship Events
Fellowship events that have been held in the past include Lock-Ins and First Fridays. Click here for a listing of our upcoming events!

  • The 7th & 8th Grade Lock-In is held in spring. The kids (and adult chaperones!) stay at church from Friday at 7:00 p.m. to Saturday at 7:00 a.m. They play games, do crafts, eat snacks, watch a movie (or two), sleep, and have breakfast together.
  • Fusion on Fridays are held on (you guessed it!) one Friday per month from October to June. Past events have included bowling, laser tag, tobboganing at Lutherdale Camp, and servanthood events (with FOOD, of course!).

Servanthood Events
The Confirmation students are expected to perform servanthood activities as an on-going service. These service activities may include sorting medications for Bread of Healing Free Clinic, serving at our monthly Agape meal, assisting with the spring and fall clean-ups here at church, and "ringing the bell" for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive. These activities foster compassion and an important sense of community in our young people.
