CONFIRMATION AT CROSS OF LIFE
Confirmation is a two-year program, traditionally for students in Grades 7 & 8. Classes meet on Wednesday evenings during the school year from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. The year is divided into quarters.

Year One focuses on the Bible, walking students through the Old and New Testaments.
Year Two focuses on church history, worship, values and prayer.

A unique quality of Cross of Life’s confirmation program is its small group / large group format. Each week, students have a blend of large group learning time with a lead teacher and small group breakout time led by parents.

Expectations of the Confirmation program include: regular classroom and worship attendance and service hours. The 7th & 8th Grade Sunday School classes are written to coordinate with the Wednesday evening curriculum. Confirmation "mail"(or "C-mail," as it's known around here) is an important communication tool between students and the lead teacher. Four different forms are available. The students share something about their week and their impressions of the Saturday or Sunday worship. The lead teacher then writes back. Students are expected to submit a total of three (3) "C-mails" per quarter.

Another expectation is for each student to participate in two different service areas or activities in the Sept.-Dec. trimester AND two  service areas in the Jan.-May trimester.  One service area can be at Cross of Life, the other should be outside (in the community). There are many opportunities for service hours. These include Bridging Generations (where our confirmation students 'buddy up' with a mentor from Luther Manor), and helping in worship services or clean-ups at church. Many students exceed this participation rate.

Faith development also happens outside the classroom. The summer following Year One, students are encouraged to attend a week of confirmation camp at Lutherdale Bible Camp near Elkhorn. Following Year Two, students are encouraged to participate in the East Coast Road Trip, a camping and adventure experience in Wisconsin State Parks. The confirmation class celebrates their Affirmation of Baptism in mid-September following Year Two programming.
