2015 COL Lenten Offerings to Benefit Waukesha Food Pantry
Cross of Life's 2015 Lenten Offerings will go to the Food Pantry of Waukesha County. (This includes Lent envelopes at all weekend and weekday services, and loose cash on Wednesdays.) The Food Pantry currently serves almost 6,000 people per month, but that number is expected to skyrocket starting April 1 when the first of a series of FoodShare (Wisconsin food stamps) restrictions begin to take effect, greatly increasing demand for pantry food. Anything you put in the offering plate will be matched by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation at 65%. (Every $1 given turns into $1.65) as part of Match Day 2015 on Thursday, March 19. Please consider supporting this important partner to help ensure everyone in our county has access to nutritious meals every day. You can also donate individually online at www.waukeshafoodpantry.org on March 19 and it will be matched. Thank you for being a blessing to others!
Food Pantry Celebrated 35 Years in 2013!
To celebrate its 35th Anniversary, the Food Pantry of Waukesha County hosted a special event, “Our Food. Our Table” held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Stackner Ballroom at Carroll University. During the evening, Cross of Life was honored as one of the Food Pantry’s congregational partners! Chef Jack Birren and his WCTC Culinary Students provided “simple foods made spectacular.” Doors opened at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6:45 p.m. A live auction followed. Congratulations to the Food Pantry on its milestone anniversary!
Bag Sales Help Fill the Food Pantry for the Holidays
To help stock the Waukesha Food Pantry during the holiday season, our Servant Ministries Committee "sold" bags of groceries after each worship service during November 9-10 & 16-17. The cost was $10 per bag and we purchased and delivered 430 bags of food, breaking last year's sale of 373 by 57 bags! Thanks to all who donated! YOU HELPED US BREAK A COL RECORD!
Our most recent Bag Sale in November 2013 collected $4,300 worth of food!
Please contact Servanthood Advocate Robin Whitehead if you would like to:
1) Help with the Summer Bag Sale or the Holiday Bag Sale at Cross of Life
2) Organize a Food Collection within your book club, COL Small Group, place of employment, or any other group.
We are blessed to be a blessing to others!
