PASTOR NORMA'S PASSING
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that after four months of serious illness, Pastor Norma Castillo, the pastor of our partner church in El Salvador, passed away on August 25. We mourn with our Salvadoran brothers and sisters, and give great thanks to God for all the lives Norma has touched, both in El Salvador and in our own church family. There will be a memorial service for Pastor Norma at Cross of Life on Tuesday, September 1, at 7:00 p.m. Please join us as we mourn our loss and celebrate her life. Please pray for her and for her family. Norma was a gifted and vibrant pastor, wife, mother, friend. She leaves behind her husband, Rafael, and her three daughters – Aurora, Daniela, and Gabby – as well as all the members of her church, Cordero de Dios. Please continue to hold them all in your prayers.
Cross of Life began its partnership with Cordero De Diós ("Lamb of God") Lutheran Church in 2003. Cordero De Diós is located in Soyapango, El Salvador, the second most populated area of the country just on the edge to the capital of San Salvador. Pastor Norma Castillo and her congregation, made up mostly of youth, minister among the poor in the area surrounding their church. Cross of Life visits Cordero de Diós twice yearly: in February and August.
